Position Overview

The Tax Department Manager will be responsible for ensuring quality of  tax production using the existing processing system as well as overseeing full time and part time employees in the processing center.  This individual would also be responsible for the implementation of a “greener/paperless” process and explore and suggest any potential improvement that may result in better efficiency.

  • Provide first-class comprehensive and in-depth technical solutions, tax expertise and support to all Federated professionals in various tax areas (tax research, transactions, …)
  • Analyze, research and prepare tax returns while supervision the day to day operations of the Tax Department, including the Tax Control area. These include but are not limited to: Partnership, C Corps, S Corps as well as personal tax returns.
  • Work closely with Division Managers and other accountants to meet various tax deadlines throughout the year.
  • Keeps current with tax laws and shares with others who need to know.
  • May do some training with staff in tax as well as other department about various topics (i.e. EA program, depreciation).

 

Desired Skills/Experience/Attributes

5+ years’ experience working in a public accounting environment.

10+ years’ experience completing and processing a variety of taxes.

Proven experience working in a paperless tax software environment as well as experience in utilizing electronic research tools.

Has strong verbal and written communication skills.

Has a smooth personality and likes to work with others

Has exceptional organizational and time management skills.

Is a detail oriented leader and individual contributor with the ability to “think outside the box.”

Possesses an unquestionable level of integrity and respects quality assurance requirements.

Has a history of building relationships with clients, colleagues and staff.

Is committed to fostering and maintaining a service culture.

Technical expertise with CCH software helpful (Axcess)

Excel & Word literate.  Organization and time management skills.  Knowledge of general office equipment. 

Attention to detail & ability to self-review.

 

Education, Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required, Master’s Degree preferred.

Active CPA license required.

Enrolled Agent Certification helpful.
