Role and Responsibilities

The Collector is responsible for various duties in the Accounts Receivable (A/R).  Specific duties include:


·         Communicate professionally and appropriately with Funeral Homes, debtors, credit agencies and law firms in writing and on the telephone

·         Possess working knowledge of credit laws, probate laws and usury laws

·         Be able to make independent decisions concerning the collection process

·         Be prepared to work flexible work hours if required

·         Participate in continuing education and meetings to stay current regarding the overall collection process

·         Work productively with other areas of FFDA

·         Willingness to accept additional assignments or special projects as delegated

·         Ability to work independently to accomplish realistic objectives and goals on schedule

·         Documents with great detail regarding communication with individuals and clients about an account


Qualifications and Education Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent required.

A minimum of 2 years collection experience is expected.

Must have excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate with all in a professional manner.  It is preferred that candidate have previous experience in collections, but training will be provided for the right person.  Candidate must be organized and time sensitive regarding deadlines and objectives.  Experience working with computer software systems and general office knowledge is required.  Willingness to take responsibility for work product and recommend process improvement opportunities as identified.

Preferred Skills

Excellent communication skills.  Must be experience in Excel and Word.  Must have great attention to details, be organized and have time management skills.
