Position Overview

Fiducial is looking for an experienced Tax Accountant for their Columbia MD office.  This position may require approximately 10% travel throughout the US to Fiducial’s field offices and reports to the Senior Manager, Technical Services. 

The Tax Accountant has responsibility to support the business operations of Fiducial’s field offices, Fiducial’s franchises, commercial clients and corporate accounting by providing tax compliance, tax preparation, and research services.  Fiducial’s clients are offered various product lines and services including tax, payroll, business counseling, accounting and financial reporting, and other financial services. The role of the Tax Accountant provides an exciting opportunity for an experienced accountant to provide their professional expertise to both the business community and the company. 

Major responsibilities include:

  • Preparation and review of corporate tax returns using CCH Axcess and data warehouse tools
  • Demonstration of technical tax competencies on individual, corporation, s-corporation, trust and partnership matters
  • Provide guidance on tax issues to field office personnel, franchisees and to clients
  • Promulgate advisory notices for the incorporation and liquidation of various types of entities
  • Work in a team environment, creating positive and collaborative relationships
  • Special projects as assigned by leadership of technical services and corporate accounting  
  • Support new business development efforts of the Columbia office, field offices and national accounts
  • Provide research support and guidance on tax/financial issues for clients
  • Enhancement of procedures to drive efficiency


Desired Skills/Experience/Attributes

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited four (4) year college or university
  • Graduate degree in accounting or some graduate-level coursework preferred
  • A minimum of 3 – 5 years of corporate and individual tax accounting experience with a CPA or professional services firm; experience preparing returns for trusts and estates a plus.
  • Advanced tax knowledge including ability to research complex issues within state/federal/international tax codes
  • Proficiency with tax and office software; experience with CCH Axcess a plus
  • BNA or other tax research tools necessary
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of clients and / or employees of organization
  • Proficiency in financial statement preparation and employing financial applications
  • Ability to solve complex process and technical problems.


 Education, Certifications, Licenses, Memberships

  • Must have an active CPA license
  • CPE Credits must be up to date
  • Possess active PTIN
