Tax Accountant (CPA)

Federated is looking for a seasoned tax accountant who has expert skills in preparation of personal property taxes.  Candidate must be a CPA.

Role and Responsibilities                ( *CPE, CCH Convention, MEMBER LOCATION, AUDIT)

Prepare, review and approve federal, state, or local tax returns of individual, business establishments or other organization.

  • Preparation of various federal, state, or local income tax returns.
  • Management of a significant number of an existing individual client base.
  • Preparation of tax projections and estimated federal, state, and local income tax payments.
  • Perform year-end accrual accounting review and prepare the tax provision.
  • Supervision and oversight of seasonal tax preparers.
  • Maintain technical knowledge of current developments in the tax area.
  • Act as an information source for other Departments within the company.
  • Research various tax issues as they arise.
  • Assist in state and local audits.
  • Communicate with clients, taxing authorities and Federated staff
  • Various other duties as assigned
  • Required working hours will vary according to work volume and filing deadlines.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university and five (5) to seven (7) years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Certified Public Accountant licensed in the State of Illinois or an IRS Enrolled Agent is required.  Willingness to take responsibility for own work product and recommend process improvement opportunities as identified.

Preferred Skills

Excel & Word literate.  Ability to perform tax research and document recommended tax position.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and clients.  Organization and time management skills.  Knowledge of general office equipment.  Attention to detail & ability to self-review.  Ability to solve practical problems and deal with variables in situations where only limited information exists.
