Position Overview

FFDA is looking for a Bookkeeper for the Springfield, IL branch.

The full charge Bookkeeper will work in a team environment providing accounting services to our member clients. Primary duties will include but are not limited to:  reviewing and maintaining generals ledgers; yearend reviews including preparing financial statements and closing out books;  reviewing purchase contracts and sales and cost journals; completing sales tax reports; quarterly payroll reporting and tax filing; 1099/W-2 generation; assisting  in the completion of personal property reports, annual corporate reports and workers compensation payroll audits; responding to needs of our member clients via phone, email or fax; supervising  the division in the absence of the Account Supervisor;  and preparing annual income tax returns.  The hours of the position are 8:00-5:00 M-F with tax season (January-April) requiring mandatory overtime.


Desired Skills/ Experience/Attributes

  • 3+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Industry experience preferred
  • Proven track record of solving practical problems and dealing with a variety of variables in situations where limited standardization exists.
  • Proven ability to handle a high-volume workload at a high level of efficiency including monitoring production and payroll processing; answering technical processing and accounting questions; and client reporting.
  • 2+ years proven experience in writing and maintaining complex reporting preferred
  • Experience with Word, Excel and Quickbooks preferred.
